Madrid, the capital city of Spain, is hosting WorldPride 2017 to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Spain’s first LGBTIQ Pride parade. Love is love, and the city will be filled with love from all over the world for the festivities. A true “City of Love”. But some other place holds the title already…
With the help of Madrid-based agency Kitchen, the city of Madrid has created a campaign to borrow the title of “City of Love” from Paris. Madrid Mayor Manuela Carmena made the official petition to the city of Paris through Twitter, sharing a video in which Madrid citizens describe the festivities to be held and the type of love that Madrid will be full of during WorldPride 2017: without labels, diverse, free, proud – like Madrid and its people. The piece closes with the Mayor’s petition and a beautiful claim: Love who you love, Madrid loves you.
.@Paris, ¿nos dejarías ese título tan bonito de ‘La ciudad del amor’ para Madrid durante el #OrgulloMundial? pic.twitter.com/nfp0tHujDd

.@Paris, could Madrid please borrow your beautiful title of “City of Love” for #WorldPride?
A few hours later, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo replied to the petition through Twitter:
Estimada @ManuelaCarmena, estimados amigos de #Madrid, #París os ama y comparte su título de ciudad del amor en el día del #OrgulloMundial https://t.co/L57f9VyqlM

Dear @ManuelaCarmena, dear Madrid friends, #Paris loves you and will share its “City of Love” title with you for #WorldPride.
A simple and effective campaign to drive awareness about the festivities and to position Madrid internationally as the progressive, friendly, welcoming city that it is.
